United Energy Trading’s revenues up to CZK 4.3 billion last year

31.3.2010

This year, the company plans to increase electricity supplies by more than 35%

Last year, United Energy Trading (UET) generated a profit (before tax) of CZK 155.5 million, which means a threefold increase over the preceding year when it posted a result of CZK 52.7 million. United Energy Trading is an electricity and natural gas supplier for final customers.
UET's result reflects a significant increase in its revenues, which in 2009 climbed to CZK 4.3 billion, implying a growth of 45% in comparison with the previous year (less than CZK 3 billion).
"Despite the global economic crisis, last year we were successful in maintaining the volumes of electricity sales while increasing sales of natural gas several-fold," said František Čupr, UET CEO.
In 2009, UET supplied customers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia with 1,107 GWh of electricity (of which 68 GWh were supplies to the Slovak Republic). For this year, UET is planning to sell more than 1,500 GWh of electricity and approximately the same quantity of natural gas, which means a threefold increase in the case of gas. UET estimates its revenues at approximately CZK 7 billion this year.
For 2010, UET has succeeded in winning public bidding competitions for electricity supplies, for example, to the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Vysočina Region, and Lesy ČR. In the corporate sector, UET is the energy supplier to, for instance, the AGROFERT Group, and also Danone, Heineken, Lafarge Cement and Procter & Gamble, etc.
Last year, UET started to supply electricity to households in addition to corporate customers, and this year it is planning to continue in new customer acquisitions more proactively. In respect of supplies to small customers, UET is one of the least expensive on the market.
In the Czech Republic, UET has been supplying electricity since 2006 and natural gas since 2007, when it therefore became the first supplier in the Czech Republic to provide customer with both sources of energy at the same time. UET has been supplying electricity in Slovakia since 2007, and is making preparations for starting natural gas supplies to the Slovak Republic as well.
In addition to electricity and gas supplies to final customers, UET is also active in wholesale and cross-border trade in natural gas; this year, it will be one of the largest natural gas importers to the Czech Republic.
UET places a great emphasis on the quality of the services that it provides. In January 2010, it met the quality management requirements of ČSN EN ISO 9001:2009 for electricity trading and for gas trading.
United Energy Trading, a.s. is part of ENERGETICKÝ A PRŮMYSLOVÝ HOLDING, a long-term strategic investor in the energy sector and a major investor in industry.
