PG SILESIA wins the prestigious “those who change Polish industry” Award

Every year, the editorial board of the Polish economic monthly Nowy Przemysł rewards individuals, firms and institutions that had a substantial positive impact on Polish industry in the past year. In this year’s edition, PG SILESIA, a member of Energetický a průmyslový holding, a.s. (EPH), was among the winners.

“We highly value this award and it is very committing for the future. We are glad that PG SILESIA’s steady and intensive efforts to implement new procedures, processes and technologies is regarded as beneficial for the entire extractive industry,” said EPH’s Tomáš David, who also chairs the Supervisory Board of PG SILESIA.

PG SILESIA is an extraction company operating in the south of Poland. It operates the KWK Silesia hard coal mine situated approximately 30 km from Poland’s national border with the Czech Republic. KWK Silesia’s geological reserves exceed 500 million tonnes of low-sulphur hard coal. PG Silesia took over all operations of the KWK Silesia mine in December 2010. Coal extraction at this mine began in April 2012, and EPH’s aggregate investments in the mine to date have exceeded EUR 108 million. In addition to coal mining, PG SILESIA also concentrates on, among other things, mine gas sales and providing solutions for environmentally friendly deposition of energy minerals.
